NY Service for the Handicapped
Camp Oakhurst

Camp Oakhurst relies on contributions from individuals and foundations to maintain its historic policy of serving everyone without regard to their ability to pay. Scholarships for summer camp are available to everyone who needs one.

The NY Service for the Handicapped, which owns and operates Camp Oakhurst, is tax exempt in NY and NJ and under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Contributions are tax deductible.

Donations are welcome throughout the year and will be acknowledged promptly. They can be targeted to a specific purpose or program or may be added to the General Fund or Building Fund. Suggested targeted contributions are listed below:

Summer Camp Scholarships:
  • $1,500 provides a full Scholarship for one 2 week session.
  • $ 750 pays for one week of summer camp for a child or an adult.
  • Add your gift to the Agency’s Scholarship Fund.
Respite Vacations:
  • $320 will give a family care giver a weekend break.
  • $980 will give the same care giver a break for a week.
Wheelchair Accessible Transportation:
  • $150 will provide a camper who uses a wheelchair, with door to door transportation by lift equipped Ambulette or Van to and from Camp.
T-Shirts:
  • $100 will provide a cabin group of children with Camp T-Shirts.
DVD Yearbook:
  • $500 will underwrite the cost of producing a DVD summer camp yearbook.
